Getting support - hsuk

Why Volunteer?

Our Volunteers want to give something back to the community. With lived experience, they know how tough parenting can be and they don’t want anyone to go through this alone.

As a professionally trained volunteer, you will make a long lasting difference to families who need a helping hand. The benefit on children is long-term; reducing the risk of problems escalating in the future and ensures they have a happy and secure family life.

Volunteering will not only change families lives; it will change yours.

Preparation Training

Every volunteer completes our 40 hour Preparation Course before they are matched with a family. This hugely popular training will equip you with all the skills and knowledge needed to help a family. Topics include confidentiality, safeguarding. listening skills, goal planning and boundaries. We provide you robust and frequent support & supervision, continuous professional development and a supportive team.

What difference can I make?

Your offer of time and support, as a volunteer, can mean the world to a family. Becoming a parent, whether its the first or the fourth time, can be an isolating experience. There are so many unspoken pressures that we all need help with time to time.

What support do i get?

Supervision, training, friendship, socials, resource packs, users forum, and much more! You will have a dedicated Family Coordinator who supports you from the very beginning, and will take into account your interests, skills and ambitions.
